We just came off a really great run of dates with Canada's The Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Sounds a bit strange that KnR was part of the ballet? That is what we thought initially until we got the chance to collaborate with coreographer, Jorden Morris on a tribute piece to Leonard Cohen. We interpreted and performed the Cohen song, Bird On A Wire, while the dancers danced it live at the Centennial Concert Hall for a week long run. It was an extremely awesome collaboration of art in this culturally vibrant city we come from, Winnipeg. I even got a few dance tips from the dancers on how to stay up on my toes when playing guitar solos. The only dsappointing part of the whole thing for me was that none of the dancers took me up on my offer to treat them to poutine, burgers and fries at VJ's after the show.
Next up for us is an exciting trip to Nashville where Renee and I will begin writing our next album. Renee is also getting ready to release her solo album (which I must say is super super awesome- pre order it now!). We are also really looking forward to performing a couple of shows at home. June 13 at The Pony with Sierra Noble and Fred Penner for a hospital fundraiser and then up on the rooftop of The Winnipeg Art Gallery on June 28...hope you can come to that one! I leave you with a pic from our recent soundcheck at The Centennial Concert Hall. What a great venue to perform in for a week. I was almost ready to set up a permanent residence here like Celine would in Vegas.
